CONNECTICUT & FEDERAL SOLAR INCENTIVES

Connecticut Solar
Lease Program
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, AFC Bank and Waldo Renewable have partnered to offer Connecticut residents an affordable way to go solar.
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund will rebate up to 53% of the total cost of the system. AFC Bank will finance the remainder with fixed monthly payments for 15 years. Waldo Renweable is responsible for system design and installation.
Spin your meter backwards while hedging against increasing utility costs. The CT Solar Lease Program has no upfront cost. Please call AFC to be pre approved at 888-232-3477.
Connecticut Solar Rebate Program
Residential Customers
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund provides a rebate for solar PV installations based on system production.
$1.75 per watt installed for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems sized up to 5,000 watts (5 kW) PTC, and $1.25 per watt installed for additional watts above 5,000 to a maximum of 10,000 watts (10 kW) PTC
- $1.75/watt for the first 5kW installed
- $1.25/watt for the second 5kW installed
The PV system is eligible for a 30% federal tax credit. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT) originally introduced this tax credit, which was extended under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The customer will receive a tax credit for 30% of the remaining cost of a system after the state's CCEF incentives have been applied.
For more information visit Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE).
Energy Conservation Loan Program
Finance your solar system via the Connecticut Housing Investment Fund, CHIF. Single-family homeowner may borrow up to $25,000 and multi-family property owner may borrow up to $2000 (maximum $60,000 per building) per unit for a period of 10 years.
For more information contact CHIF at 860-233-5165.
Commercial Customers
Currently there is no CCEF incentive available for commercial installations. The only incentive available would be the 30% federal tax credit described above.
Connecticut Solar Thermal Rebate Program
Connecticut will provide an incentive towards a solar thermal system for your domestic hot water. The incentives are only available to systems that will supply between 50% and 80% of a customer's annual domestic hot water needs.
The incentive amount is based on the amount of heat (MMBtu) the proposed system will produce from October-March.
Customers will receive $500 per MMBtu produced by your system from October-March.
Maximum incentive awarded per installation:
- 1-2 person household - $2,400
- 3-4 person household - $3,600
- 5-6 person household - $4,800
The thermal system is eligible for a 30% federal tax credit based on the remaining cost of the system after the state incentive is applied.
