Residentual Solar Power

Residential Solar

Solar is a clean, safe, and reliable source of energy. Solar photovoltaic panels are affordable and efficient as ever. A photovoltaic system immediately lowers electric bills and will completely pay for itself while providing renewable energy for the next 30+ years.

The cost of a solar panel installation will depend on the amount of electricity consumed on site, the size of the roof or ground space available to install solar panels, and the budget for the project.

Waldo Renewable Electric, LLC custom design’s each solar system according to our customer’s needs and site conditions. Solar panels need adequate light in order to produce electricity. We will do a preliminary evaluation by using satellite imagery. Once we have established your site is good for solar we will schedule a site evaluation. Please contact us today to find out if your site is a good match for solar.

CT Residential Solar Incentives

CT Residential Rebate Program

The Connecticut Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority provides a rebate for solar PV installations based on system production.

$1.75 per watt installed for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems sized up to 5,000 watts (5 kW) PTC, and $1.25 per watt installed for additional watts above 5,000 to a maximum of 10,000 watts (10 kW) PTC

  • $1.75/watt for the first 5kW installed
  • $1.25/watt for the second 5kW installed

NEW RESIDENTIAL SOLAR PROPOSED PROGRAMS

The CEFIA board will vote on the new residential rebate program in February.  The program is projected to open March 1, 2012.  Below are some of the residential options that we may be able to offer this spring 2012.

Solar Buyout

$2.50 per watt installed for solar PV systems sized up to 10,000 watts. The homeowner will own the REC's and federal tax credits.  Once the solar PV system is installed and producing power you will have fixed monthly payments.

Solar Lease

A solar lease has no or very low upfront costs. Once the solar PV system is installed and producing power homeowners will have fixed monthly payments.

Solar Loan

A Solar Loan will offer customers a chance to own a PV system with out the capital expense.  The homeowner will own the REC's and federal tax credits.  Once the solar PV system is installed and producing power you will have fixed monthly payments.

Backup Power Systems

In a power outage the only way to have electricity and sometimes heat is to have a back up system.  There are a lot of options when it comes to back up systems; manual transfer switch generators, automatic transfer switch generators, solar battery back up systems, battery back up systems, etc.

The cheapest option is the manual transfer switch for generator.  Another generator option is to install an automatic transfer switch for a generator.  This back up system will automatically transfer to using backup power as soon as the utility power is down.  This system requires a gas hookup.

A solar battery back up system is the easiest on the environment, but will cost more up front than a back up generator.  The cost depends on what needs to be backed up.  For instance heat, water, and refrigeration are the most common emergency loads.  Heat and refrigeration are easy loads for a backup system to handle, but water is not.  Well pumps draw lot electricity and would require several batteries.
