CT Commercial ZREC/LREC Program - Zero Emission Renewable Energy credits/ LOW emission renewable energy credit's

Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) and United Illuminating (UI)  are offering long term contracts for the purchase of the solar energy through Renewable Energy Certificate's (REC's).  In Connecticut REC's are called ZREC's and LREC's (Zero Emission Renewable Energy Credit's or Low Emission Renewable Energy Credit's ).

The utilities are mandated through the Connecticut Energy Law passed into legislation in July of 2011 to spend $8 million.  The $8 million is split between Ui and CL&P territories.  Each territory has three bid categories based on size; under 100kW, 100-250 kW, 250-1mW.

The RFP has closed for large and mid size ZREC/LREC projects.  Small projects- under 100 kW - solar projects will be opening shortly.  United Illuminating has announced the ZREC price at $148.89 for small projects.  The price may change pending PURA's final decision.

For more information on the program visit CL&P's ZREC website.
